Grants Unlocked: Toshiba

In our recent Grants Unlocked webinar, we explored real-world strategies for educators across the US to apply for the Toshiba America Foundation grants to fund hands-on STEM tools like Strawbees and micro:bit.

This 45-minute session featured expert Tiffany Pace , a STEM Instructor at Crosslanes Elementary School in West Virginia who has applied multiple times for the Toshiba grants, and many others, and helped cover what makes a good grant application.

In this webinar we covered:

1. Understanding the application process
Tiffany explore where to start when considering a project for the process, what you need to get started and what the process is like. 

2. Tips for writing a strong proposal
Writing an application can be an overwhelming process. Tiffany helps guide you through what might stand out and how to connect your project to key priorities.

3. Funding Hands-On STEM Tools
Get inspired by examples of Tiffany used grant money to bring tools like Strawbees into her classroom and the impact it's making.

Q&A Session

We had a Q&A to wrap up the session, where we asked questions like:

• What is the maximum amount you can get for a grant and can you apply for more or less?

• Can multiple teachers at the same school apply for the same Toshiba America Foundation grant?

• Can you use a grant for multiple STEM tools like Strawbees and others?

• If you work in a K-8 school, can you apply for a K-5 grant and for a middle school grant, and would you get only one or the other?
