ABOUT the product

Strawbees is an award-winning prototyping toy for makers of all ages. It is a kit based on simple units called Strawbees that lets you connect straws to each other and build little to huge mechanical objects from just straws and cardboard, and which stimulates the imagination and encourages storytelling endlessly.

With Strawbees you can always modify things as you go, add straws, cut straws, or add new connections to get a sturdier, more flexible or bigger structure. Nothing is destroyed, only modified. We think playing and having fun is the best way to learn about the world. Play, Learn & Invent!

ABOUT the company

We make smart toys that help little humans become big inventors. It all began in 2011, when inventor Erik Thorstensson discovered that the plastic waste from IKEA’s lamp shade production could be used to create simple connectors that attach to straws and cardboard, which later came to be known as Strawbees.

Several prototypes later, Strawbees was launched as a successful Kickstarter in 2014. The media loved the toy for it’s simple design and endless building possibilities.

Today Strawbees, with it’s patent pending system architecture is already a best seller in several retail chains, due to it’s unique mechanical and building properties. It also makes for a great product within education for which we partner up with our sister company, Quirkbot, which is a robotics kit that animates and brings your Strawbees creations to life!

We are still new and fresh and are working hard to offer our customers and business partners new and exciting products by constantly innovating.
